How PsychDoc decides what a synthesis says, who signs it, and what money can and cannot buy.
Updated 2026-10-05
Two layers, one method
PsychDoc publishes living syntheses that anyone can read for free. It also writes commissioned reviews that answer a client’s question. Both use the same method, the same evidence tiers and the same trust panel.
A commissioned review goes to the client first. It is published here within six months of delivery, with the funder named on the page.
What money buys, and what it does not
- A client buys speed, priority and private briefings.
- A client never edits, approves or previews conclusions before the scientific editor signs them off.
- Commissioned and public work use the same tiers and method. No claim is tiered differently for a paying client.
- Every commissioned review is published within six months of delivery, with its funder named.
- A reviewer never reviews work that their own group or employer commissioned.
- Authors, trialists and sponsors named in a synthesis have a right of reply and a corrections route.
- Each year we publish our funding sources and the categories of clients we worked for.
Who decides
The publisher, Max Markovtsev, runs the business, sales and operations, and does not sign off scientific conclusions alone.
The scientific editor will sign every public synthesis and every commissioned review, and can block or amend publication. The position is open. Until it is filled, no synthesis on this site claims scientific sign-off.
Independent reviewers sign their reviews, declare conflicts and are paid. Their dissent is published as they wrote it.
An editorial board of three will form once paid work can fund it. It will have the final say on public syntheses and will audit these rules every year.
Reviewer terms
- Your review is signed with your name and ORCID iD.
- A standard honorarium for each signed review.
- A time ask of about two weeks.
- A CRediT contributor role on the synthesis.
- The right to withdraw your name from any version.
- Control over how your dissent is worded.
- A conflict of interest declaration, published with your review.
- Your name is never used in sales material without your consent.
